ARRIVING BY CAR
PARKING
Car parking is very restricted, both at the Department itself and within the centre of Oxford generally. If you intend to drive to Manor Road, please contact the Department beforehand to arrange parking. There are five 'Park and Ride' car parks which provide day return bus travel to the city centre. FROM THE NORTH (BIRMINGHAM, WORCESTER, NORTHAMPTON):
Take the A44 or M40 then A34. Approach Oxford along the A4165 (Banbury Road). Turn left onto Parks Road, then left onto South Parks Road after 500m. This road leads into St. Cross Rd. at a sharp right-hand bend, Manor Road is 350m after this, on the left.
Park & Ride: Pear Tree (Woodstock Road), Water Eaton (Oxford Road).
FROM THE EAST (LONDON):
Take the M40 then A40. Approach Oxford along the A40/A420 (London Road). From The Plain roundabout head onto the High Street. Turn right at traffic lights into Longwall Street. Manor Road is on the right after 450m.
Park & Ride: Thornhill (London Road)
FROM THE SOUTH (ABINGDON, SOUTHAMPTON)
Take the A34 to the Oxford ringroad, then take the A4142 Eastbound. Turn off towards Oxford on the A4158 (Iffley Road) which takes you to the Plain roundabout and approach as from the East.
Park & Ride: Redbridge (Abingdon Road).
FROM THE WEST (CHELTENHAM, BRISTOL, SWINDON)
From Cheltenham, take the A40 approach along the A4165 and follow instructions as from the North. From Bristol and the West, take the A420 (Botley Road) into Oxford, and carry straight on to Hythe Bridge Street. Follow signs for Banbury, along Beaumont Street then left onto St. Giles. Take the right hand fork (A4165 - Banbury Road) and turn right onto Parks Road 350m after the road forks. Follow instructions as from the North.
Park & Ride: Seacourt (Botley Road).
ARRIVING BY TRAIN
RAIL STATION & SERVICES:
The railway station is located just off Park End Street. There are regular services from London, and from Birmingham and other stations to the North.
STATION TO DEPARTMENT
The Department is 2km to the East of the railway station, straight along Hythe Bridge Street, George Street, Broad Street & Holywell Street, then left into St. Cross Road and right into Manor Road. Alternatively there is a taxi rank outside the station.
